Trek Slash 7 2022

Used I’m selling my Trek Slash 7 Gen 5, a highly capable 29-inch enduro/trail bike designed for aggressive riding and technical terrain. The Slash platform is widely respected for its long-travel suspension, stable geometry, and race-proven durability, making it ideal for riders who want a bike that can confidently handle steep descents, bike park laps, and demanding trail networks while still remaining efficient enough to pedal back to the top. Trek’s Alpha Platinum Aluminium frame gives the bike a strong yet relatively lightweight chassis, and the ABP (Active Braking Pivot) suspension design keeps the rear suspension active under braking, maintaining traction and control on rough descents where many bikes stiffen up. This bike has been lightly used and well maintained, and it rides exactly as a Slash should—stable, planted, and confidence-inspiring. Condition is good overall, with a few light cosmetic scratches from normal trail use, but nothing that affects performance or structural integrity. Mechanically it’s in great shape and ready to ride. Several quality upgrades have been added to improve durability, performance, and ride feel compared with the standard specification. The rear wheel has been upgraded with a Hope Pro 5 rear hub (red) laced to a Fortus 30 rim. Hope hubs are well known for their extremely reliable sealed bearings, fast engagement, and bomb-proof construction, making them a significant step up from many stock hubs. They also produce the distinctive Hope freehub sound and are manufactured in the UK with excellent long-term serviceability. The Fortus 30 rim is a strong, wide rim designed for aggressive trail and enduro riding, offering improved tyre support and durability compared with many OEM wheelsets. Tyre setup has also been upgraded to a Maxxis Assegai (29 x 2.5 EXO) front tyre paired with a Maxxis Minion DHR II (29 x 2.4, 3C MaxxTerra, EXO+) rear tyre, both set up tubeless. This combination is widely regarded as one of the best enduro tyre pairings available. The Assegai provides exceptional front-end grip and predictable cornering, while the Minion DHR II offers excellent braking traction and rolling efficiency on the rear. The 3C MaxxTerra compound balances grip and durability, and the EXO / EXO+ casings add extra sidewall protection for rocky trails without excessive weight. It also comes fitted with red DMR V12 pedals, a classic flat pedal known for excellent grip, strong alloy construction, and a large platform that gives riders confidence and control on technical terrain. Compared with many bikes in the same category from brands like Specialized, Giant, or Santa Cruz, the Slash stands out for its balanced geometry and suspension performance, which make it equally comfortable charging downhill or tackling long, rough trail rides. The upgraded rear wheel and premium tyre setup also give this bike a performance advantage over many stock builds in this price range. I’m listing the bike for £2150 but am open to reasonable offers. The only reason I’m selling is that I need the funds for another project, otherwise I’d happily keep riding it. It’s a fantastic bike for anyone looking to step into a capable enduro-ready trail machine without paying the price of a brand-new build.
